Leadership Training is an important ingredient in the life of a Unit, a District and the Council. It is equally important in the growth of a Scout, a Unit Leader, and a District or Council Committee member. In the life of a Unit, trained Leaders lead to better programming. Trained District and Council Committee members are better equipped to provide necessary unit support. Trained Executive Board members have a greater understanding and impact on the entire program offered by the Boy Scouts of America.
Youth Members are trained to serve in various Unit Leadership positions. Examples are: Den Chief, Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Crew officer, and Order of the Arrow elected officials.
Adult Members are trained to provide knowledgeable programming to Units, Districts, and the Council. All Unit Leader Training begins with Fast Start, followed by Basic Training (New Leader Essentials and Leader Specific Training), and advanced Wood Badge courses. Supplemental training is offered at monthly Roundtables, District Leader Training Workshops, and at specialized training events.
